Two outcomes are counted separately and never merged: the engine cited a page as a source on 60.0% of calls, and named the brand in the answer prose on 45.1%. On 29 calls an engine read a page without naming whose it was; the reverse never happened. The headline finding is instability: of the 22 question and engine pairs that named the brand at least once, 11 did not do it on all five runs, so half of every apparent citation win failed to repeat. Citation is also extremely concentrated: 22 pages out of 1,158 produced all 156 page citation events, one roundup article took 26.3% of them, and 290 conference pages were cited zero times. The study also self-audits: all 1,158 sitemap pages scored against a six-criterion answer-engine standard at two commits six days apart, showing that formatting criteria moved sharply (visible freshness 10.4% to 91.8%, question headings 76.9% to 94.8%, FAQ parity 74.2% to 90.8%) while the two evidence criteria did not move at all (extractable facts with sources 37.0% to 36.6%, claims integrity 32.6% to 33.1%). It publishes an honest null, correcting an earlier Buzzbox claim that AI-cited pages fail claims integrity at twice the site rate: the direction repeats but does not reach significance at n = 22 (Fisher exact two-sided p = 0.17). Datasets: [probe CSV](/research/buzzbox-ai-citation-probe-2026-08.csv), 195 rows, 15 columns, and [page scores CSV](/research/buzzbox-aeo-page-scores-2026-08.csv), 1,158 rows, 24 columns. Both CC BY 4.0, no gate. - [What a Medical Conference Booth Actually Costs (2026)](/research/medical-conference-booth-costs/): a census of 207 medical conferences recording whether each organizer publishes a booth price an exhibitor can locate, cite, and verify on the open web. A published price was found and re-verified against the organizer's own document for 87 of the 207. The median entry booth, meaning the smallest standard commercial package listed, is $4,250 across the 85 US-held conferences that publish one. The other 120 records carry null in every cost field rather than an estimate, and that absence is the study's main finding: publishing a price tracks with conference size, not with willingness to disclose. Dataset: [CSV](/research/buzzbox-medical-conference-booth-pricing-2026.csv), 207 rows, 19 columns, free to reuse with attribution. ## Benchmarks and Data - [Medical Device Marketing Budget Benchmark 2026](/blog/medical-device-marketing-budget-benchmark-2026/): Sourced spend figures by company stage (pre-revenue to established manufacturer), channel allocation (conferences, SEO, paid search, KOL, sales enablement), and device class CAC.
